Climbing and Biking for Multiple Myeloma Research!

Dear Friends and Family,

Welcome to our on-going fundraising page in support of the Multiple Myeloma Research Foundation (MMRF). From this page we plan to continually fundraise through a variety of events, mostly centered around the things we love to do and share with people…adventures in the outdoors!

2019 is going to be another great year for adventure and multiple myeloma research! This year, we will be pushing ourselves to train for another 5-day road bike adventure. We will wind our way through the Green Mountains of Vermont and up to Montreal, Canada with the MMRF Road to Victories - Vermont to Quebec Tour in September 2019.

The work ahead of us? Raise at least $10,000 for the MMRF and train to cycle for 5 days through the beautiful fall foliage and small villages of Vermont before climbing up the glacier carved terrain around Lake Memphremagog in Quebec. Training for this event will be a big challenge for us, but nothing compared to the challenges faced by patients with multiple myeloma.

THIS IS PERSONAL. We all have a connection to cancer. In 2008, Lindsay’s mom, Linda, lost her battle to myeloma and shortly after, her aunt Carol Beall was diagnosed but she is continuing to endure with new treatment options thanks to the ongoing research.

WHY DO WE DO THIS? It's not because we are crazy (although maybe a little...). Because riding a bike and climbing rocks won't cure cancer, but research will! And research takes money. We want to be part of the action that is accelerating a cure.

Multiple myeloma is the second most common form of blood cancer and, sadly, has one of the lowest five-year survival rates of all cancers. But while there is no cure, great progress is being made because of the MMRF.

In fact, thanks to the important work of the MMRF, the world's leading private funder of myeloma research, the FDA has approved TEN new treatments in the past decade, including FOUR in just the past 18 months – a track record that's unparalleled in oncology. These drugs have TRIPLED the lifespan of myeloma patients. And now the MMRF is funding over 20 additional treatments in various stages of development, giving hope to tens of thousands of patients and their families.

The Goal: Raise $10,000 for the MMRF!

The MMRF, along with its research and medical industry partners, has fueled more studies, initiated more trials, developed more treatments, introduced more medicines, and have had a far greater impact than any other organization on myeloma. While the MMRF has made enormous progress, they still have much to do and cannot continue to do great research without your support.

As always, we would appreciate your support in our participation in the Road to Victories Vermont-Quebec event benefiting the MMRF. As many of you know, we are avid rock and ice climbers and part of our fundraising events will be done by holding various climbing events through the winter, spring, and summer. In exchange for a suggested minimum $100/day donation, we and some of our experienced friends will climb with you and basically work on whatever you it a particular technique, skill set, pack in mileage, or climb some routes you've always wanted to do. Even if you have little to no experience, we can work with you to create a memorable and positive experience. Oh and we’ll throw in a cool T-shirt too!

We also know that many of our friends aren't climbers so we will be holding a wide variety of non-climbing events too. Our overall list of events is below and we try to keep it updated...scroll down to check them out and for those on Facebook, you can find our page at "Craggin 4 Cures" (

Your tax deductible donation goes directly to help fast track lifesaving treatments for myeloma patients. Please donate whatever you can to support this great effort! It all adds up!

Thank you and love to all!

About the MMRF:
The mission of the Multiple Myeloma Research Foundation (MMRF) is to find a cure for multiple myeloma by relentlessly pursuing innovation that accelerates the development of next-generation treatments to extend the lives of patients. Founded in 1998 by Kathy Giusti, a multiple myeloma patient, and her twin sister Karen Andrews as a 501(c) (3) nonprofit organization, the MMRF is a world-recognized leader in cancer research. Together with its partners, the MMRF has created the only end-to-end solution in precision medicine and the single largest genomic dataset in all cancers. The MMRF continues to disrupt the industry today, as a pioneer and leader at the helm of new research efforts. Since its inception, the organization has raised over $400 million and directs nearly 90% of the total funds to research and related programs. To learn more, visit
