In Honor of Mary Caviris

Created by Nick Kokkinakis

Mary Caviris

On August 17th I said goodbye to my first and best friend ever, my sister, Mary Caviris. I can't say she lost her battle to Multiple Myeloma because she actually gave it her all, and did so bravely and with such strength and determination that she, in many ways, beat it over the last 11 years!
She is my hero, my inspiration and my mentor. I learned so much from her while we were growing up, all through our adult years and especially while she peacefully drew her last breaths.
I feel relief in knowing she is with our Dad in heaven, and that I have my wonderful Brother-in-Law George and my amazing niece Zevelyn, nephews Nick and Constantine and my beautiful great nieces Sofia, Kiki and Maria to keep her memory alive.
Rest in peace Mary. Till we meet again!
I love you with all my heart.

Help us honor our loved one while making a difference in myeloma research.

The Multiple Myeloma Research Foundation (MMRF), along with its research and medical industry partners, has fueled more studies, initiated more trials, developed more treatments, introduced more medicines, and have had a far greater impact than any other organization on myeloma. While the MMRF has made enormous progress, they still have much to do and cannot continue to do great research without your support.

Please consider joining me to fight multiple myeloma. Together we can make a difference.

About the MMRF:
The mission of the Multiple Myeloma Research Foundation (MMRF) is to find a cure for multiple myeloma by relentlessly pursuing innovation that accelerates the development of next-generation treatments to extend the lives of patients. Founded in 1998 by Kathy Giusti, a multiple myeloma patient, and her twin sister Karen Andrews as a 501(c) (3) nonprofit organization, the MMRF is a world-recognized leader in cancer research. The MMRF continues to disrupt the industry today, as a pioneer and leader at the helm of new research efforts.  Since its inception, the organization has raised over $330 million and directs nearly 90% of the total funds to research and related programs. I was lucky to be married to a beautiful, loving, kind, caring, selfless, giving person who always lit up my life and that of all those she touched. She loved spending time with our kids, her parents and our grandchildren. She took personal care of her mother when she no longer recognized her. During the eleven years she courageously fought multiple myeloma she was an amazing wife, daughter, sister, friend and her favorite role "yiayou" as her grandchildren called her. If she could, I know my wife would like to thank all who have honored her in a variety of ways. May my wife's memory be eternal.
